The Bauhaus school, which pioneered the establishment of the School of Applied Fine Arts, established the basic principles of the Department of Interior Architecture programs. We argue that the workshop culture, reflected by the Bauhaus school, is still an important part of education. We see that the Bauhaus school is a source of inspiration in the contemporary design world with its ratio-ratio, human-ergonomics, materials, production methods and theory. In this context, this project which is being carried out in the “Production Techniques” course, which we believe in ”educational contribution of producing together”, is a strong reflection of Bauhaus school in Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Interior Architecture.
Inspired by the ideals of the Bauhaus school, it is aimed to make furniture that everyone can produce and assemble in our workshop. It is envisaged that understanding schools in applied education and questioning where design comes from today will make significant contributions to students and educators. Within the scope of this project, it is aimed that the students work in the workshop, communicate with the environments they will encounter in the market and understand the balance between these collaborations and production-design. The furniture produced within the scope of the project was selected from the design schools of the period; In this selection, the fact that designs are original examples in terms of ratio-ratio, technical details and production methods were important criteria.
It is aimed to experience the furniture of Bauhaus school which is innovative, directing free thinking, sincerely, cheating, designing the future, feeling the optimization in dimensions, open, transparent and contributing to the quality of life and still being thought to contribute to communication and interaction in design education.
